I'm incredibly passionate about equipping collectors with the knowledge and skills to build meaningful collections while navigating the art, museum, and auction world with as much information as possible!
I can't remember a time when the arts wasn't my main focus. I was lucky to travel when I was young which made me excited about museums, art, and culture as a kid. I took every art class that I was able to find and ended up at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) pursuing a degree in Art History. Afterwards, I got my masters degree at Syracuse University in Museum Studies. After working in museums, galleries, artist studios, historic houses, and other arts organizations, I set out to build an advisory at the intersection of them all. My background working in museum collections led me to create that same level of object care for private collectors. We help our collectors acquire and deaccession work in the way that makes sense for them and the object. We have a different approach for each client, each object, and every aspect of the business because art collections are incredibly personal and we believe in putting the art object and our clients needs above everything else. Right now, we are working on developing additional curated tours of art fairs, educational events for collectors in various cities, while continuing to manage private collections across dozens of cities! Most recently, we have been researching artwork by Maria Montoya Martinez, the iconic Pueblo potter from New Mexico for one of our new clients.
Favorite exhibition
One of my favorite exhibitions that I had the privilege of seeing was Leonardo da Vinci at the Louvre (October 24, 2019 - February 24, 2020). I believe this was the largest retrospective of Da Vinci's work and it was timed to the 500th anniversary of his death. It was probably the most crowded exhibition I have ever been to, and still, it was as life-altering as you can imagine! Beyond his monumental works, the best part of the show was being able to see his sketches and notebooks as they filled glass case after glass case. It truly felt like an invitation into his mind. Another favorite I have to shout out would be the Flight into Egypt: Black Artists and Ancient Egypt, 1876–Now exhibition at the Met (November 17, 2024–February 17, 2025). Most art historians start as Egyptology nerds when they're young, and seeing ancient works in dialog with contemporary artists that are active in the art world was incredible!
Favorite museum
Surprisingly, this one isn't art related! My favorite museum is the National Air & Space Museum, either in the one in Virginia or the one on the National Mall in D.C. My mom used to take me there all the time when I was a kid, and I loved learning about astronauts and airplanes. I think that museum taught me a lot about the importance of museums, they give you the chance to feel connected to object and concepts that you might never be able to see for yourself, but in those spaces, you can learn about people, places, and things so far away from you and your own life!
